Every summer TeenServe hires a number of college-aged individuals to work on our summer staff team. Working as a TeenServe summer staffer will involve hard work and long hours, however it is fun and immensely rewarding! If you think you are up for the challenge, please read on…



Requirements for Summer Staff Employment

Foundational Requirements
· A knowledge of the saving grace of Jesus Christ
· A commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord of your life
· An ability to express your faith well
· A love for people – especially teenagers
· A faith-filled life and walk in response to God’s grace

General Requirements
· Ability to integrate and work well with a team
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· A focused, disciplined, organized life style
· Always willing to go the extra mile
· Willing to travel, work hard, and endure long hours
· At least 18 years of age, a high school graduate, with one year of college completed



Summer Schedule

Approximate Time Frame /Activity (check with us for exact start and finish dates each summer)

· Early June / Approximately one week of summer staff training will take place. The location of the training will vary depending on where our first camp is. This includes team building, prayer, and growth in relationships with Christ and other members of the TeenServe summer staff team.

· June and July / Travel across the USA and operate TeenServe Workcamps. You will be put to the test with demanding work and long hours. You will also have an amazing, rewarding experience!

· Mid – late July / Return home after a great summer of work, fun, and making a difference!

A Day in the Life of a TeenServe Summer Staffer

Set-up Week
7:00 a.m. Wake-Up! / Quiet Time / Breakfast
8:00 a.m. Work on school set up
12:00 p.m. Lunch at the school
12:30 p.m. Work on school set up
5:30 p.m. Dinner
6:00 p.m. Work on school set up
8:00 p.m. Free Time
11:30 p.m. Lights out

Workcamp Week
6:30 a.m. Wake-Up! / Quiet Time
7:15 a.m. Breakfast with workcampers
7:15 a.m. Tool Room and office open
8:00 a.m. Workcampers leave for work sites
9:00 a.m. Photo Crews out / tasks around school / worksite visits
12:00 p.m. Lunch at the school
2:00 p.m. Evening program – rehearsal and program slides complete
3:00 p.m. Workcampers return to the school
5:00 p.m. Dinner with Workcampers
5:00 p.m. Daily materials run
6:45 p.m. Evening Program
8:00 p.m. Coffee house and store open
10:00 p.m. Workcampers in rooms
10:00 p.m. Clean up coffee house, school lock down
10:30 p.m. Lights out for workcampers
11:30 p.m. Lights out for summer staffers (you will need your rest!!)


Wages

Wages will vary with your experience and the length of the summer workcamp season. In addition to wages, all expenses for room and board are covered. You will be responsible for travel to and from TeenServe’s headquarters in Wisconsin at the beginning and end of the summer. You will also be responsible for personal items and non TeenServe related expenses over the summer (i.e. snacks, entertainment, etc…).



Specific Summer Staff Positions

Program Manager
Duties
o Create the Power Point / Media Shout program for each evening program
o Coordinate set-up of sound and lighting equipment in gym
o Coordinate set-up and operation of the office computers and e-mail café
· Required Skills
o Advanced technical knowledge of PA and lighting equipment.
o Working knowledge of digital cameras and video equipment.
o Advanced technical knowledge of computer hardware, networking and software

Office Manager
Duties
o Responsible for set up and operation of the TeenServe office
o Assist Workcamp Director with worksite folders
o Responsible for school layout including assigning and preparing classrooms and posting signs.
· Required Skills
o Working knowledge of computers and MS Office software
o Extremely organized

Food Service / Hospitality Manager
Duties
o Serve as primary interface for kitchen staff and volunteers
o Manage all food inventory / deliveries
o Coordinate lunch distribution for workcampers
· Required Skills
o Ability to interact well with delivery drivers, cooks, volunteers, etc…
o Excellent planning and organizational skills – ability to take accurate inventory counts

Tool Room Manager
Duties
o Set up and maintain the Tool Room
o Order additional paint and materials as required
o Coordinate the activity of local volunteer troubleshooters
Required Skills
o Ability to interact well with volunteer troubleshooters (mostly retired individuals)
o Ability to work well under pressure
o Excellent organizational skills

Security Coordinator
Duties
o Provide overnight security for school campus
o Create lock-down checklist
· Required Skills
o Ability to create and follow detailed check lists.
o Ability to work and make decisions alone (overnight)

Store / Coffee House Manager
Duties
o Set up and operate the store and coffee house.
o Clean and maintain coffee house equipment.
Required Skills
o Ability to work under pressure
o Meticulous about cleaning food related equipment
o Working knowledge of computers and MS Office software
